Misora is a critically acclaimed 1972 LP by Japanese folk-rock singer-songwriter Sachiko Kanenobu. Considered a timeless classic, it is revered as a pioneering album for female singer-songwriters in Japan. Though initially overlooked, the album gained cult status over the decades and has been reissued several times in Japan (URC, Pony Canyon, Sony), Australia (Chapter Music), Spain (Guerssen Records) and the U.S. (Light in the Attic).

Founded in 1969 as a pioneering indie label in Japan, URC (Underground Record Club) began as small mail-order only operation in the late 1960s, bringing together cutting-edge talents across the folk spectrum in Osaka. This compilation release features a rare track collection of gems from Sachiko Kanenobu's early years, including her time with "Gu" and "Secret Society 〇〇 Cult." as well as live performances of her in her early prime. Released initially in 1998 on the Toshiba label, it was reissued in 2020 on Pony Canyon, and again in 2024 with the addition two bonus tracks and new artwork.

FORK IN THE ROAD
1998 (Seals Records)
In the summer of 1998, the hidden masterpiece Fork In The Road was recorded in a private studio in Izu, Japan. Produced by Koichi Matsuda, her bandmate in Gu, the album was intended as a return to the folk sounds of Misora following her years fronting rock band Culture Shock in America. The album features many songs originally written in English that were translated into Japanese to appeal to fans of her early 70s sound. Unfortuantely the Seals label folded shortly after it's release, leading to the album's rarity.

It is an album of wonderful perfection that does not feel old-fashioned at all, even in this day and age. In 2024 it was remastered by Makoto Kubota and released on vinyl for the first time as "Sachiko Kanenobu".
